Before the economic downturn, Union County residential
real estate was some of the fastest selling homes in the Carolinas. In fact,
Union County was the fastest growing county in the Greater
Charlotte area and was one of the fastest growing counties in the whole US. The reason so many opted for Union County was the excellent schools and lower property taxes which holds true today.
Union County is blessed with beautiful
rolling hills of the Piedmont – mostly farm land, pastures and forest
prior to the growth of Charlotte creating a huge demand for Union County homes.
The county offers a wide variety of homes & communities. Eastern Union
County tends to be more rural & less developed, with lower priced homes.
Jo Ann's focus is on Western Union County homes– from Waxhaw
homes to Weddington homes and from Marvin homes to Wesley Chapel homes. Western Union County has grown as available
land for new South Charlotte homes as all but evaporated. Some of the popular neighborhoods in Western Union County include Firethorne, Somerset,
Hunter Oaks, Kingsmead, HighGate, Bromley, Marvin Creek, Longview, Weddington Chase, Providence Downs, Stratford on Providence, Cureton, Quellin, Sedgefield, Lawson, Millbridge, Skyecroft, Chatelaine. Click on the names of the subdivisions above
to see homes that are currently on the market.
Doing a search for Western Union County
homes can be quite confusing as some of the towns do not have a post office of
their own so the mailing address may not contain the actual city a property is
in. For example, when doing a Union
County search a home may show the city of Waxhaw but the home is actually in
the town of Marvin or Weddington. All
three cities share the same post office and zip code and listings will show the
city of Waxhaw. Of the three cities/towns Marvin is the closest to
Charlotte. By contacting, Jo Ann, a
Realtor who specializes in the area and also lives in the area,
she will make sure that you are looking at listings that are where you really
want to be.
Union County Real Estate
The towns of Western Union County are an
interesting mix; however, the only one with a real downtown is historic Waxhaw.
Waxhaw with its railroad tracks down the middle of town is reminiscent of small
town Americana. The other towns & villages – Weddington, Marvin and
Wesley Chapel– are little more than crossroads without a central business
district. The Union County real estate one finds in these small towns is
practically all residential... scattered throughout the incorporated and unincorporated
areas. Weddington real estate is well known for its large residential lots –
one acre or more.

considered some of the best in the Charlotte area…and are highly sought after.
